THE GERMANY EXPAT BUSINESS SHOW – SEASON 4, EP. 35 SHOW NOTES
In this episode of the Germany Expat Business Show, I had a super-inspiring talk with Tarek Abousamra.
Tarek is a resilient, smart entrepreneur with a remarkable journey from Syria to Germany. Tarek’s story is one of perseverance, adaptability, and innovation, as he navigated the challenges of living through geopolitical upheaval (to say the least) starting all over in Germany and eventually co-founding a successful business.
This episode delves into Tarek’s experiences, the founding of his company, Co-Tasker, and the lessons he’s learned along the way.
Tarek’s journey from Syria to Berlin
Tarek Abu Samra’s journey to Germany is anything but typical. Originally from Palestine and raised in Syria, Tarek was forced to flee his homeland due to the Syrian war.
After a tumultuous journey through Lebanon and the UK, he eventually found refuge in Germany. Despite the challenges of starting from scratch, Tarek’s entrepreneurial spirit thrived.
He co-founded Co-tasker, a platform designed to make finding help for various tasks easy, fast, and safe. His story is a testament to the power of resilience and the importance of community support.

You will find both inspiration and practical advice in this episode, I know I did. Tarek’s story is one of those that made me feel motivated and determined. We can all easily fall into the trap of complaining and getting grumpy about the difficulties of life and business in Germany, but if he can do it, anyone can.
Tarek’s Lessons Learned For Other Immigrant Founders in Germany:

- Know When to Pivot: While persistence is important, entrepreneurs need to recognize when it’s time to pivot or stop. Being adaptable and making timely decisions can prevent wasted resources and energy.
- Leverage Community and Technology: building a supportive network and utilizing technology, such as AI, not only enhances productivity and problem-solving capabilities, but is especially helpful in a foreign business environment.
This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in entrepreneurship, especially those navigating the complexities of starting a business as an expat in Germany.
