Welcome to The Germany List Advent Calendar! We’re highlighting international and expat small business owners in Germany and helping you get all of your holiday shopping done all at the same time.
Know an expat having a baby in Berlin?
There is a lot to figure out and half the time it’s all in German. Not to worry! Gitanjali More is here to help?
After becoming a mother herself, Gitanjali realized the lack of discourse around motherhood and the challenges faced by international mothers in Germany. This led her to create The Confused Mother, a business dedicated to supporting women navigating motherhood in a foreign country.
Her mission revolves around three core aspects:
- Practical Support: Helping mothers understand the bureaucratic maze of paperwork, including parental leave benefits (Elterngeld) and childcare options (Kindergeld).
- Workshops: Offering workshops that focus on work-life balance, self-care, and regaining confidence after motherhood.
- Job Coaching: Assisting women in re-entering the workforce after taking time off for parenting.
For the new (and maybe confused) expat soon-to-be mom in your life, Gitanjali’s Having a baby in Berlin online tutorial will be a welcome gift!
There is lots of good info in the tutorial that applies for all of Germany (not just Berlin) as well.
