The Germany List was founded by Lindsey Küster and Eleanor Mayrhofer, both long time American expats based in Germany. We thought it would be a good idea to have a business portal for the rest of us.
We wanted an easy way to both advertise and find services discovered by other Ausländers in Germany.
As a business owner, no more constantly dropping your links in Facebook groups, hoping to get noticed or endless posting in Instagram only to get a few likes.
As someone new to Germany, no more posting in WhatsApp groups asking for a therapist/dog walker/place to order groceries from your home country.
Some big portals offer this, but only for a handful of business types, usually catering to corporate expats that need services like tax consultants, housing and private international schools.
Immigrants like us need goods and services besides tax advice and relocation services: Household help, photographers, stylists, coaches, dog sitters, web designers, hair salons, children’s activities, language coaches, foods from our home country, health and wellness practioners, professional organizations, community groups and more.
We wanted to create one central place to find all these things. Sort of like a Craigs List for internationals in Germany.
